Katie Brent
Biography
Inspired by the stunning Jurassic coastline and the rolling hills of Somerset and Dorset, Katie Brent works expressively with a variety of mediums: oils, acrylic, mixed media and aquatint printing. First taking photographs, or sketching directly ‘en situ’ to depict a particular moment in time and atmosphere.
More recently Katie has been inspired by botanical scenes in her garden ins summertime, and the splendour of the Hauser and Wirth Garden in Bruton, designed by Piet Oudolf: “I am drawn to the wonder of nature that surrounds me, I never tire of it, and seek to capture the atmosphere and splendor of it. It is a constant source of inspiration.”
Upon completing a degree in graphic design and illustration at Central St.Martins School of Art and Design, then a Postgraduate Certificate inEducation; Katie worked as an artist and muralist in London, then as a freelance artist for an art consultancy, her commissions featuring around the globe.
Katie now lives in Somerset, close to the borders of Dorset and Devon.
She is currently represented at Greenstage Gallery in Hereford, and Hatch Gallery in Christchurch, Dorset.
She has also embarked on several print making courses at Weymouth college, revisiting the techniques of aquatint from her St Martin’s days.
