Anna Dickerson paints from the natural world, including birds, toads, hares, badger and bumblebees. Anna works in oil paints or acrylic and changes her approach to painting as the subject shifts. Her work is tactile and captures a moment in time with energy.
Her plein-air kit includes wax and oil pastels, colouring pencils, graphite and oil sticks, in addition to paint. Anna works from life and additionally creates more sustained artworks from the studio. She also draws London Cityscapes from life and is working on a series of historical portraits.
Anna studied painting at Glasgow School of Art and Rhode Island School of Design. Exhibitions include The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The Royal Scottish Academy, Discerning Eye, DE drawing Bursary finalist, Cynthia Corbett Gallery, The Barbican library, Jane Newbery Gallery, Ingo Finke, Totally Thames Festival and The London Art Fair. Anna was Artist in Residence at London Zoo (2009/2010) where she had a solo exhibition. Anna featured as part of Tate Gallery online drawing course, comprising live drawing and interview on film at London Zoo. Her ‘Robin’s Breakfast’ was printed as a Royal Academy card in 2019 until 2024, having been part of the Summer Exhibition.
Anna’s work is held in private collections worldwide, the NHS Hospitals art collection and in the United Nations art collection in Rome.
