Luce Géas

14th February - 4th March

Private View: Wednesday 15th February 6.30pm - 8.00pm

Luce Géas returns to the gallery for another one of her sell out solo shows.

Luce Géas has travelled to many parts of the world but Provence is the area where her heart has undeniably been captured.  The region’s colour and light, the texture of the golden ears of corn, intensity of lavender and the majesty of its multi-coloured hills are beautifully transferred to canvas to become a luxurious and sensuous delight for so many who long for sun, clear skies and all the delights that go with it.
Born in Provence, Luce strives to express the poetry and emotions she feels for the landscapes that have inspired her for decades. There is a hint of romance but it is the shared experience of the landscape itself which she is interested in presenting; she hands it to us simply and stylistically with an explosion of colour. It is her gift to the viewer to translate that rich sense of well-being and enjoyment.
Luce graduated from the Sorbonne as Agrégée de l’Université and has an MSc from the London School of Economics in Political Science. She then went on to lecture at the LSE until she retired to concentrate on her painting, working in both Provence and her London studio.  In 2010 Luce was awarded the Légion d’Honneur, France’s highest honour following a distinguished career both professionally, socially and artistically.  Luce has exhibited extensively and has many loyal followers.  We are delighted to be showing her work once again at Highgate Contemporary Art.
